Glassware Collection - Worcestershire Museum of Freemasonry

An unusually shaped heavy Charging Glass. 1860-80.

Description

"Date: 1860-80.

Style: Of an egg timer shape with a narrow waist. Conical bowl 7cm in diameter. Thick rimmed. Vertical flutes lower half to the foot of the base. The bowl is engraved with two pillars with celestial and terrestrial globes on top. Seven stars, shining star, moon with face, square and compasses, gavel, plumb line and a skirret. Verso are the initials ‘FM’.

Foot: Flat base 6.5cm diameter.

Stem: None.

Pontil: Ground out."

Properties

"Glass: Soda.

Condition: Very good. A series on minor chips throughout the circumference of the base edge."
