Description

"A selection of 18th and 19th Century plate and pierced Jewels .

Top from Left

1. A P.M.'s pierced silver jewel (Hall mark 1811; maker Thos. Harper, Silversmith, Dep . G.M . Of the Antients and Grand Steward of the Moderns), with ""pastes"" at the terminals of the level and plumb-rule.

2. . A silver Jewel of 1797 (make Thos. Harper) inscribed on the reverse ""Jonas Clark of Lodge 305"" (St. Andrew's Lodge, now No. 222).

3. A parcel gilt late 19th century embossed jewel.

4. A 5-pointed star breast jewel, silver c.1830 (British Union Lodge No.114).

Centre Silver Jewel and chain (maker Thos. Harper) worn by one of the ""Nine Worthies"" appointed by the Antients Grand Lodge, 1792, to assist the Grand Officers ""in visiting Lodges and preserving the practice and ceremonies of the antient craft uniform' .

1 A beautiful example of a P.M.'s jewelin silver and gold, set with red, emerald, blue and white brilliants, late 18th century ,5½"" x 5¼"".

2. Treasurer's silver badge, early 19th century, inscribed ""Bro John Mott Thearle, fecit"" with wards incorporating the square, level and plumbrule.

3. A silver jewel of unusual design, probably a Tyler's.

4. . A silver P.M.'sjewel of 1812 (maker Thos. Harper) mounted with pastes, and finely engraved, found in a pawn shop in Hong Kong in 1928 and presented by J. D. Danby , P.D.G St Br. China, in 1929.

1. A Royal Arch ,silver-gilt breast jewel,1802. with paste in centre.

2. An unusual continental silver pierced jewel, probably French, showing a medley of masonic emblems, presented by H.R.H. the Princess Royal.

3. A deacon's silver jewel 1853, depicting the god Mercury upon a cloud bearing the caduceus.

4. A plate jewel c. 1792 of the Lodge of Unanimity , No. 89.

5. A Royal Archbreast jewel of ""Antients"" pattern , made in Bath, 1820."
