"Anthony Sayer. who was elected Grand Master and placed in the C'hair at the first regular Communication of Grand Lodge (the premier Grand Lodge in the world), in 1717 at the ""Goose & Gridiron"" Alehouse in St. Paul's Churchyard (Goose and Gridiron was a nickname for ""Swan and Harp"", an Inn of which the sign was a parody of the Arms of the Company of Musicians) ."
