Description

"Centre: A Centre Piece with crystal bowl (London 1887) length 23½'. Height 17"", presented to W.Bro. R . C. Else, Dep. P.G .M ., Somerset , by the Freemasons of the Province upon his marriage, July, 1887, bearing the names of 25 Lodges together with his arms and the insignia of a Grand Deacon . The cherubim are similar to those in the Arms of the United Grand Lodge . The bowl is engraved with craft emblems and insignia of other degrees.

Left: A George Ill silver-gilt ceremonial flagon 21½"", maker John Parker , London , 1805 , weighing 15½ oz. The lip is embossed with the Prince of Wales's feathers and below the rim are the Arm of the Antients Grand Lodge and of the Duke of Atholl . Three shields decorate the bowl , one embossed with a battle scene and the inscription ""Chewshouse German Town, Oct . 4th, 1777"", the other with masonic insignia and the inscription ""Masonic Lodge Guernsey 116"". And the third with an inscription recording that the flagon was presented by Orange Lodge , No . 116 to the ""Honourable Major General Sir John Doyle, Bart ."" Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey and Alderney (1804-1815) and Deputy Grand Master of English Freemasons (1822-1824) . The foot is embossed with the figures of Faith, Hope and Charity, and the handle is amusmgly modelled as a lizard .

Right : A Covered loving Cup 18½"", in Indian Silver elaborately embossed with masonic emblem, flowers and birds. Cobras form the handles and the finial is a helmet surmounted by an arm holding a battleaxe. It was presented to the Hon. James Gibbs, C.S.l., C.I.E., D.G .M Bombay (1870-9) by the ""Brethren under h is rule . . ."" 29th March , 1879.

Centre: A silver gilt ceremonial trowel, maker W. Bateman, London, 1824. used by the Duke of Sussex at the laying of the foundation stone of the University of London in April, 1827.

Foreground Left : A silver beaker 8"", presented by the General Officers of the Grand Lodge of Sweden to the Royal Somerset House and Inverness Lodge, No. 4, when they visited the Lodge, 21st July, 1933 (lent by Lodge No . 4).

Right: A covered silver beaker 8½"", presented by the Grand Lodge of Sweden to the United Grand Lodge of England in 1932."
