Description
OBVERSE: A circular Poole Plate of blue enamel in front of a disc ornamented with oak-leaves and acorns in gold, with a bow at the base; on the Poole Plate, in the centre, a foul anchor and cable in silver, and around, in gold lettering, UNITED MARINERS/30 Surmounting the whole is a wreath enclosing the square and compasses in silver.
REVERSE: Plain.
Ribbon, 31 mm., light blue; hanger and bar are in the form of double loops of gold cable.
An Athol Lodge, warranted in 1777 as No. 23; but it seems to have obtained its foundation date of 1753 from an earlier No. 23 which lapsed shortly before 1777. The Centenary Warrant is dated 1863.
