Description

OBVERSE: On a carpeted dais of two steps, a royal throne, on which Queen Victoria sits, wearing crown and veil and the ribbon of the Order of the Garter, and holding sceptre and orb. The throne is ornamented with rose, thistle and shamrock, and a portion of the Garter motto can be seen; above is a five-pointed star encircled by a garter, irradiated, with the motto, HEAVENS LIGHT OUR GUIDE; on the top of the throne are a lion and a unicorn, each holding a shield. At the base of the dais stand, on the left, the Prince of Wales wearing the apron and collar of the Grand Master, and carrying a gavel in his right hand; on the right, the Duke of Connaught, clothed as Provincial Grand Master, also with a gavel. In ex: an ear of corn and a sprig of acacia tied with ribbon. On a scroll nearly surrounding the whole, TO COMMEMORATE THE 60Th YEAR OF H. M. THE QUEEN’S HAPPY & PROSPEROUS REIGN . 1897

REVERSE: REVERSE: The Arms of the United Grand Lodge of England on a circular shield bordered by a wreath formed by an ear of corn and a sprig of acacia tied with ribbon at the base. Supporters, two Cherubim with wings extended above; below, on a scroll, AUDI VIDE TACE and at the base (small) KENNING Around the upper portion, H. M. THE QUEEN, CHIEF PATRONESS R. M. I. G. and around lower portion, G. PATRON R. M. I. B. .’. V. PATRON R. M. B. I.
