Description
Pierced, in the form of a pentalpha with its angles resting on an outer circle.
OBVERSE: The pentalpha is twined with scrolls in dark blue, red and light blue, bearing the names ENGLAND SCOTLAND and IRELAND respectively. Along three sides of the pentalpha, MARS XXVI/A. D. MDCCCLXIV/VDCCLXIV Around the outer circle, INSTALLATION OF SIR W. J. CLARKE AS D. G. M. OF/VICTORIA
REVERSE: Around the outer circle, THE FOUNDATION STONE OF THE NEW FREEMASON’S HALL and in the central portion, LAID BY/ BRO./SIR W. J. CLARKE BART./DIST. & PROV. G. M./OF VICTORIA/26 MARCH/1885
Sir W. J. Clarke occupied at the time the unique position of District and Provincial Grand Master in each of the three British Constitutions, English, Scottish and Irish. The medal is said to
be made of Victorian gold.
