Description

OBVERSE: A draped female figure, seated, between a boy who is holding a book and a girl who is saying a lesson. Behind are several children, one at work on a globe; and the background is an arcade of round-headed arches. Around, WEST • LANCASHIRE • MASONIC • EDUCATIONAL • INSTITUTION with the square and compasses below.

REVERSE: Plain, with, at base (small) KENNING


The Institution was founded in 1850. The occasion of the medal was an Educational Festival and Masonic Ball, held at Liverpool. Another Specimen of this medal has the REVERSE: plain, but with the Date 1885 engraved in the centre.
