Description

OBVERSE: Head and shoulders of William Shakespeare to left, clothed; above, WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE and below the truncation, small, J. S. & A. B. WYON Sc.

REVERSE: SHAKESPEARE/PRIZE in two lines, with ornament above and below. Around, TRINITY COLLEGE SCHOOL/. STRATFORD-ON-AVON . Edge: T. COVENTRY 1880 (engraved).

The Lodge, which is numbered 778, and meets at Hampton Court, voted this medal in 1877 for the encouragement of the study of Shakespeare, Modern History and English. It was awarded for the last time in 1880.
