Martin Folkes, the Antiquary, was Deputy Grand Master under the Duke of Richmond, in 1724-5. He was elected a member of the French Academy in 1742; and it is possible that this medal, which was struck in Rome, was a token of the high opinion held of him by the learned in that city.
