Description
OBVERSE: The Arms of the Athol Masons, with crest, the Ark, supporters, two Cherubim, and motto on a scroll below, in Hebrew characters, Holiness to the Lord. The shield is outlined by two palm-branches, crossed at the base, and just below the crossing, small, KIRK. F. Around, GRAND LODGE OF FREE AND ACCEPTED MASONS ACCORDING TO THE OLD INSTITUTIONS
REVERSE: A chaplet of olive, tied at the base with ribbon. Within, in 6 lines of cursive lettering, engraved, To the/ Rt Worshipful/ Edward Barry/ D. D./Grd Chaplain/ 5808 and around the whole, engraved, In Testimony of his eminent Services to the Craft.
The purpose of the medal is sufficiently obvious from the inscriptions; but the occasion for which it was originally instituted is not known.
