Description

OBVERSE: Within a wide-bordered outer band, a tablet of silver, with the figure of St. John the Baptist, partially clothed in skins, his arms around a lamb which stands on a bank at his side. Along the outer band, ST JOHN’S 39 LODGE/CENTENARY 1832 the square and compasses at one side and a pentaipha at the other.

REVERSE: Plain.

Ribbon, 32 mm., light blue; hanger, a plain bar.

The Lodge was constituted at Exeter in 1732, and worked continuously except for a period of five years, 1754—9, during which it was erased.

Properties

Oval: 30 x 35 mm. Silver and gilt.
