WMLMT Classification:- Goblet/Glass

Description

"Date: C 1780-1800.

Origin: English.

Style: A straight sided, slightly flared, heavy bottomed firing glass engraved with a square and compasses and ‘Faithful’ with ‘680’ . The walls are reasonably fine for a firing glass and this style is not normally associated with firing glasses so it may be a form of drinking vessel. Bowl is 7.2 cm in diameter.

Base: 6.4 cm in diameter and flat with slight dishing. The base is 2cm deep.

Pontil: No pontil mark which has been ground out."

Properties

"Height: 7cm.

Weight: 344 grams.

Glass: Clear soda. Grey hue.

Condition: Very good for its age. Scratching to the inside of the bowl base. Some minor surface scratching outside. Plenty of wear to the wearing base rim and some minor flea bites to the bowl rim. Faithful lodge was based in Kidderminster and met at the Black Horse Inn but was erased from the Grand Lodge records in 1844."
