Description
"This image is a mezzotint portrait of Anthony Sayer (c. 1672–1742), the first Grand Master of the Premier Grand Lodge of England.
• Artist: The portrait was engraved by John Faber Jr. after an original painting by Joseph Highmore.
• Significance: Sayer was a bookseller elected as the first Grand Master in 1717 at the founding of the Grand Lodge at the 'Goose and Gridiron' tavern in London.
• Collection: Similar prints are held in the National Portrait Gallery, London, and the Museum of Freemasonry."
