Description

"The James Terry Lodge was consecrated on 15 July 1890, and meets at the Halsey Masonic Hall, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. It can trace its roots back to Union Waterloo Lodge which was founded in 1761, prior to the formation of the United Grand Lodge of England.

All Lodges have banners, and this one shows the Terry family crest along with the motto of the Lodge:PROBO ET FIDELE ET FIDO (Approved, Loyal and Faithful)

The details of the original banner of the Lodge appear to have been lost, but in 1968 it was recorded that the banner had suffered ‘from the destroying hand of time’ which had caused it to deteriorate beyond repair, and it was presumably disposed of.

A replacement banner was dedicated at a meeting in December 1968.

This is a silk miniature of that banner."
