OBVERSE: A shield with the word NORTHERN across it, rays above, and below, parted per pale, the square and compasses and a Maltese cross. Behind the shield is a cross moline, with the number 16 at the top and the date 1857 at the foot. Around, TOWANDA PENNA
REVERSE: Plain.
