Description

OBVERSE: Portrait bust half right; at the sides, the stems of two trees bearing leaves and fruit. Above, on scrolls, in two lines, ROBERT FREKE GOULD/P. G. D. ENGLAND below, a cartouche with rounded ends, bearing in the centre an oval medallion with the badge of the Quatuor Coronati Lodge, No. 2076, and at the sides, 1855/8 DECEMBER and 1905/8 DECEMBER

REVERSE: Plain; at the base, in small letters, 11AM-BURGISCRE ZIRKEL CORRESPONDENZ a square and compasses above.

Author of the monumental “History of Freemasonry”, as well as of many other works, especially in the Transactions of Quatuor Coronati Lodge, of which he was a Founder, Gould’s name stands among the very highest as a Pioneer in the scientific study of the History of the Craft.
