Description
Merzdorf calls this piece the “Spott Ducat,” and dates it to about 1740
Obverse—A pair of spectacles above an open book, which has the inscription, in six short lines, “Das Gantze Geheim Nüs” (The whole secret).
Reverse.—A Masonic apron, with the lap turned up and resembling a mantling, on which are the trowel, gavel, andtassel of a cable-tow. Legend, “Den Freymaeuer” (The Freemason).
